Yesterday I uploaded Meinls Soundcaster Fusion Cymbals to our site, today it’s been Soundcaster Custom.
Comparing the two series, I personally prefer the Soundcaster Fusion Cymbals appearance over the Custom. I just think they look a bit more interesting and unique apposed to the plain exterior the Soundcaster Custom Cymbals have. I like that there are two sections formed by the different finishes within one cymbal. I think it gives the cymbals character, and it also means they’re easily identifiable as a series.
In terms of sound, The Custom cymbals win for me. They have a controlled amount of high frequencies and brighter, richer sounds are formed by the combination of B12 Bronze alloy and a brilliant finish. Whereas the Fusion cymbals have more of a distinct wash and a shorter sustain, but I guess it all depends on what sound you aim to achieve.
The Soundcaster Custom Cymbals have been especially designed with the aim to create new and exciting sounds. Each cymbal was made using high-tech computerised hammering, giving them a uniformed, top quality look.
Take a look at the video below and see what you think :)
