NEW for 2022 Craviotto Introduces Hybrid Bearing Edges
Typically,Craviotto have furnished their solid shells with 3 types of bearing edge - 45 Degree, 30 Degree (Vintage) and Baseball bat (Rounded). Towards the end of last year, Master Craftsman Saul Rocha, was experimenting with prototype edges, combining his extensive knowledge of acoustics and drum manufacture. During this experimentation he came up with with the perfect hybrid bearing edge. Combining the baseball bat and 45 Degree examples He produced an edge that works in harmony with the inside collar of the drum head itself. This makes the drum even easier to tune, still retaining the same wide tuning range and giving the drum a fatter sound. As a result, Craviotto snare drums (and later in the year toms and bass drums) will be available with the new Hybrid Edge - Rounded on the outside to be in harmony with the inside shape of the drum head but from the apex (the uppermost contact with the head), the inside edge is cut at 45 degrees. The perfect marriage of tradition and innovation.

While he was alive Johnny Craviotto worked tirelessly to achieve the perfect hand constructed drum and his same team continue to build the instruments using the exactly same methods as they did when they worked under his his guidance.
The combination of walnut, maple shells and the new hybrid bearing edges, this drum will sound crisp and sensitive right to the edge of the drum with high tuning but will sound fatter at lower tunings.
