Pre-Loved Vintage Staccato Shell Pack (includes holders)

This vintage Staccato drum kit is by far one of the most unusual we've had in our store!! It's unique shape and sound is perfect for heavy, loud drumming with that wow factor! Or if you're looking for a unique vintage drum to add to your collection, this would be absolutely perfect... Staccato Drums were first introduced to the market in 1977, designed and hand-built in England! Read on to find out more about this fascinating kit.

In the 1970s, manufacturers began to experiment with more synthetic materials for instruments. North Drums in the USA made headlines when they were seen played by renowned American drummer, Billy Cobham. North drums were constructed from fibreglass and featured an unusual alpine horn shape that was designed to project the sound outwards to the audience, so they could clearly hear the most direct qualities of the drums!

British artist and inventor, Pat Townshend, took inspiration from North Drums and created his very own outward projecting, fibreglass drum kit, with a more complex shape than North Drums. The Staccato drum kit, instead of a round end, featured an unusual shape that was often referred to as "elephants/clowns trousers". The Staccato finishes were reminiscent of cars and motorcycle finishes, influenced by Townshend's work designing and racing cars. The standard finishes included white, black, yellow, red, and blue, but since the drums were hand-made, they could be ordered in over 100 custom finishes for an extra charge. This pale grey finish on this particular set allows the shape of the drums to speak for themselves, without being overwhelmed by a bold colour choice!

The Staccato kit has to have one of the loudest bass drums imaginable! The huge double chamber in the bass drum amplifies the sound and accentuates the deep frequencies in the tone. The drums have a fantastic low end that carries unbelievably far! The Staccato is unmistakably a great choice for heavy metal and rock drummers, and without a doubt has that wow factor for playing on stage!
