Everyone likes to be up to date with the latest gear and this is the place to find out what’s new!
Big Bang Distribution were at this years NAMM showcasing a whole load of new drumming products from drumsticks and earplugs to snare drums and cajons!
This year Ahead have taken existing products and built on them, just like the new Ahead marching stick. These new Ahead marching drumsticks have been completely redesigned to fit the current market. The new for 2013 drumsticks have new shortened covers and are a ligher weight. The shock in the handle has been adjusted to bring you a little more shock and a higher pitch so you’ll receive an overall brighter sound. You’ll also get a 90 day warranty with these drumsticks. Another cool feature of these new marching drumsticks is the colour. They can be powder coated in any colour, so marching bands are able to match the band colours to the sticks!
There are now two new additions to the Lars Metallica Scary Guy drumsticks… The standard and the light. The Scary Guy standard drumsticks match that of a regular 2b, 16” and have a 3.5 wall thickness. The Scary Guy light drumsticks have a 3.0 wall thickness and are a typical light drumstick, 16” in length. The two Scary Guy drumsticks will give you different sounds, with the standard being ideal for harder hitting drummers and the light sticks from softer players.
Ahead have brought out a number of new practice pads this year including the new strap on practice pad. The strap on pad attaches around your leg by velcro and features a metal core. This new practice pad is ideal for drummers on the move that love to practice! Anywhere you need it, you can have it! Fun, easy and simple.
Another new Ahead practice pad is the core pad. This practice pad features the Ahead metal powder coated s-hoop with a build in carbon fibre surface with real snare sound built in. There’s also a new Metronome practice pad, which is exactly what it says… A practice pad with a built in metronome! It also features the licensed patented drum-o-meter stroke counter so you can have fun trying to be the worlds fastest drummer!
Big Bang Distribution have been working on creating a drum stool that’s comfortable and secure and they’ve came up with the new for 2013 Ahead patented Spinal Glide drum throne. The seat of the Ahead Spinal Glide has been created with a crack going down the middle of it. The gap through the middle has been specially designed to sit in line with your tail bone. This innovative idea will help reduce fatigue as spinal compression is reduced and the pressure is lifted. The Spinal Glide drum throne is currently available in three colours black, black sparkle and red top. The black sparkle seems to be a popular choice so far!
Ahead have added 9 new snare drums to the Ahead line this year, each of them measuring 14” x 6”. The brass snare drums are available in Harley Davidson flat black, candy apple red, blue chrome, candy silver and candy apple blue. These snare drums have a 1.5mm thick brass shells and come with powder coated brass hardware. The snare drums feature a combination of Ahead patented ideas such as the well known S-hoop. The S-hoop provides you with more strength and an overall better tonal sound. It shape of the S-hoop means there’s less wear and tear on on your drumsticks, hardware and the drums body. The Ahead tight screws keep your drum in tune, so you wont find yourself constantly having to re tune your drum. Each snare comes with a trick throw off and fat cat snappy snare 24 strand snare wire.

Sleeved washers – These Ahead sleeved washers are a cheap add on that’ll make your drum tuning a whole lot easier. Simply use the sleeves instead of metal washers and you’ll notice the difference.
Last year Ahead brought out the custom moulded ear plugs. These protecting ear plugs were a big hit and many customers suggested a lanyard would be useful, so the ear plugs didn’t get lost. So Big Bang distribution listened and now you can buy an Ahead lanyard that is easily screwed into your custom moulded ear plugs!
Another new accessory to the Ahead range is the slug batter badge. This new bass drum badge spreads force out over a larger area, protecting your bass drum head. The slug beater badge is extremely durable and will last longer than anything thats currently available!
The makers of drum dial bring us a baring edge conditioner in a handy stick container. The conditioner conditions wood and can also be used on metal. The conditioner allows your drum head to slide easily making for easy tuning... good for snare wires too.
Ahead have been selling drum bags and cases for over 20 years now, and the Armor cases have been available for the last year and a half. With this experience, Ahead have been able to develop and enhance cases to fit the needs of all drummers!
The patented tear drop shape that features on the Armor cases is ideal for drums with mounts, as it gives enough room for your drum and it's mount. The Dyna Zip making loading your drum in and out of the case easy as you have the extra bit of room to work with. The Armor bags have 3 layers of foam for ultimate protection and a soft fleece lining.
This year Ahead have introduced new 'tuck away'ruck sack straps on some of their percussion bags and the 24" cymbal bag. The straps zip away into the back of the bag so they're not in the way when not in use, a cool idea!
There is also a new Ahead back pack that will easily hold a laptop and store any paper work and bits and bobs you might need with you!
