Maybe you heard about it or maybe not. The Soniclear Bearing Edge can be described as being standard on all Armory shells from Mapex and allows the drumhead to sit flush and to make a better contact with the shell promoting ease of tuning, increased shell resonance and optimal tonal clarity. The result is a stronger fundamental pitch and a significantly expanded tuning range.
"The new soniclear bearing edge is fantastic. A lot has been said about the profound effect it has had on the ease of tuning but for me there is another equally as important benefit- the requirement for loads of damping. The drums sound so good as there's no reliance on dampening to get a great sound!"-Charlie Kenny, Talon/Jackson Live
