We are excited to announce that a stock of limited edition Yamaha Phoenix Drum Kits is now available here at the Drumshop UK.
The word phoenix, by definition is as it follows:
phoenix [fee-niks] - noun
1. a mythical bird of great beauty to burn itself on a funeral pyre and to rise from its ashes in the freshness of youth and live through another cycle of years: often an emblem of immortality.
2. a thing of peerless beauty or excellence
"A thing of peerless beauty" that's exactly how I would describe any of these Yamaha Phoenix drum kits. They have a set of top-notch features and they have a breathtaking design.
The Yamaha PHX Series Drum kits come fitted with 11-ply hybrid shells and the woods used are progressively harder from the center ply to the outer plies. The center ply is made of jatoba which is a very hard wood, sandwiched on either side of the center is kapur which is part of the mahogany family and adds warmth to the sound of the drum. The inner and outer plies are maple, except in the case of drums using the optional burled ash outer ply which use an outer half-ply each of maple and burled ash.
All drums from the Phoenix Series feature a 30-degrees bearing edge, but with a different profile. So, the bass drums have a sharper edge cut toward the outer plies which provides attack and shortens the decay. The floor toms have a slightly rounded edge which gives them a perfect balance of attack and sustain, making them very articulate at all dynamic levels. The rack toms feature an even more rounded profile in order to provide warmth and sustain.
Phoenix drum kits are available in a wide range of finishes you can choose from:
