We have just received some super exciting new from drum manufacturer, Yamaha! Yamaha are releasing the brand new Recording Custom drums which have been designed in partnership with drumming legend, Steve Gadd.
Steve Gadd has been meeting with Yamaha's research and development team for the past 3 years, working on giving the Recording Custom drums a fresh new look, brining them up to date and suitable for the modern drummer.
Steve Gadd explained;
"I told Yamaha what I thought throughout the process. The result is that everything is a step up, yet they still feel like the Recording Custom. I think we did a great job, the drums sound great and am excited to see them unveiled so people can see and importantly hear them."
As most of you probably know, the Yamaha Recording Custom drums (aka the 9000 series) are iconic drums and are have been played by many famous drummers past and present. We're very excited to hear that after 40 years, these drums are now have a new design which can only make them better than the originals. (and they're hard to beat!)
The Recording Custom 9000 series became the industry standard drum kit in 1975 and since then has been admired musicians and other drum companies world-wide!
These popular drums got their name as they are regarded as the most recorded drums in history and we can understand why! We have sold many of these Yamaha drum kits over the years and to have a little trip down memory lane I've added some old photos to the bottom of this blog post! We also have the odd second hand Yamaha 9000 Recording Custom drum kit come into us and they never hang around for long, that just proves how loved these legendary drum kits really are!
The Recording Customs feature 100% birch drum shells with a choice of lovely high gloss lacquer finishes. These Yamaha drums have been a long-term favourite of ours at drumshop and it's safe to say we cannot WAIT to see the newly designed drum kits!
