ABOUT LAST NIGHT : The First Ever Drumstars Live Band Night

Last night marked the first EVER Drumstars Live Band Night and what a night it was!  Nineteen brave Drumstars students took to the stage with two other professional musicians to play some of the greatest hits of all time.

The event was held inside a real venue (Sheepfolds Stables) with the most immaculate atmosphere.  Sheepfolds Stables boasts a wide range of independent restaurants, a mix of bars and a spacious, industry-standard stage.  Family, friends and audience members made full use of the amenities and tucked into Si King's "PROPA' (great drummer BTW) delicious pizza, burgers and craft beverages whilst enjoying the live music.

The students played top of the range drum kits as the night was kindly sponsored by Sonor Drums. The Sonor SQ2 in White Pearl sounded absolutely phenomenal and is available to buy at Drumshop.  Huge thanks to Steve Vine for all of his help and support - we couldn't have done it without you!

All of the students who played were absolutely amazing and we were completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of talent in the room.  It was clear how much work and practice had gone into the performances.  The Drumstars tutors should be very proud of themselves for empowering their students to play at such a scale, with musicians they had just met. Simon was shredding the guitar and singing and Robert was keeping the bass pumping. The band made sure all the drummers were comfortable and communicated with them every step of the way. A plethora of genres and songs were covered including Lennon playing Superstition and Rowan playing Teenagers by My Chemical Romance.  It was inspiring to see the next generation of drummers lean into so many different styles and do them all so well.

After coming off stage, every performer was given a goody bag that contained a free T-shirt to remember the event, stickers, pens and shortly every performer will be given a pair of RAMRODS.  This brand have also sponsored the event and would like to gift everyone who took part a pair of rods.  It's great to see such big names in the drumming industry getting involved and supporting the youngsters, thank you.

The response from the event has been overwhelming and I have received so many messages from parents, students and punters saying how much they enjoyed it and how beneficial it has been for the performer's confidence and drumming.  Maybe we'll have to do again soon... stay tuned as there has already been some big names thrown about for the next one.
